Please note: We perform an agreed range of Andrology testing in line with local protocols primarily aimed at initial semen sample screening. Due to the nature of our service, we do not provide Fertility testing in full accordance to WHO standards.
The Andrology service is an appointment-based service.
Requests for appointments should be made using the ICE Ordercomms system.
Clinicians without access to Ordercomms will need to request the service using the electronic requesting template and submission via email to [email protected]. Appointments are normally made for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Samples need to be dropped off in the main reception at Southwest Pathology Services, Lisieux Way, Taunton or Yeovil District Hospital Pathology department at the specific times allocated within the appointment letters. Samples that are dropped off without an appointment will not be examined.
Patients who wish to cancel or change their set appointments will need to ring the Andrology telephone number (voicemail) 01823 346702 and leave a message.

Initial Fertility Investigation
Post Vasectomy Analysis
Results are normally reported on the day of receipt
Please note: Post vasectomy samples received in the laboratory at over 4 hours post specimen production will be reported as non-accredited samples. Due to the time delay in the laboratory receiving the sample, testing may result in failure to detect spermatozoa, also the concentration and motility of any spermatozoa present potentially being affected. This will result in the failure to accurately assess the motility of any sperm that may have been present at the time of ejaculation
